After traversing Otherworld, a dimension made from the faces of people, the protagonist's team fights the Darker Lord either saving or erasing the evil spirit and bringing peace to Miitopia.
The Evil Spirit soon takes the body of the Great Sage to transform into the Dark Lord and soon the Darker Lord, the new antagonist for the second half of the game. However they are unsuccessful the first time upon realizing the Dark Lord's true form being an evil spirit with the power of possession. After the Dark Lord invades Miitopia and begins to steal their faces, the Guardian Spirit bestows the protagonist, a once simple traveler arriving at Greenhorne, with newfound power to face the Dark Lord after they were attacked by a slime monster. The Mii are the main species in Miitopia, with the playable Miis being the protagonists of Miitopia.
